Carol Lane

Carol is the longtime coach of 2026 Olympic Bronze Medalists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier. With more than 60 years on the ice - and over four decades coaching athletes from beginners to Junior World, World, and Olympic medalists - she brings unmatched experience and perspective to the sport.

Carol believes deeply in learning from her skaters, staying curious, and leading with kindness. For her, being a good person is the truest measure of success.

Carolina Kostner

Carolina is an Olympic medalist and World Champion whose career helped redefine artistry and longevity in modern figure skating. A five-time European Champion, nine-time Italian national champion, and 2014 Olympic bronze medalist, she competed at the highest level for more than 15 years and represented Italy at four Olympic Games. Today, Carolina brings that experience into coaching and athlete development, working with elite skaters including 2026 Olympic medalist Yuma Kagiyama, and sharing the artistic perspective she developed through collaborations with leading choreographers such as Canada’s Lori Nichol.

Dr. Judy Goss

Judy is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® who works with National and Olympic/Paralympic Team athletes from organizations including Skate Canada, Wrestling Canada, Athletics Canada, and Golf Canada. Her work focuses on performance enhancement, performing under pressure, and building resilience.

She takes an educational, evidence‑based approach - helping athletes and coaches understand the psychological foundations of performance and develop practical strategies they can use in training and competition.

Richard Sylvester

Richard is a strength and conditioning coach with 18 years of experience supporting athletes ages 5–25 across Canada and internationally. His expertise led him to serve as a Long-Term Development Advisor with the Sport for Life Society, where he helps sport organizations build meaningful and sustainable athlete development frameworks.

He is also the Quality Sport Director at the Winnipeg Newcomer Sport Academy, a multi‑sport organization providing accessible, high‑quality programming for newcomer youth. Richard is passionate about creating positive, development‑focused environments that help young people grow through sport and physical activity.

Paul Parkinson

Paul is a 2014 Olympian and a current Skate Canada National Level Coach. He has guided multiple national champions and international competitors from their earliest steps in the sport, and he now serves as the Competitive Singles Director at Skate Oakville.

Paul is also a certified Skate Canada NCCP Learning Facilitator for Provincial‑level coaches, supporting the next generation of leaders in the sport.

Adam Schumacher

Adam is the Canadian Sales Manager and Technical Representative for Jackson Ultima Skates, working closely with retailers, technicians, and skating programs across the country to support proper equipment education and athlete development. With a 15‑year background in competitive pairs skating, he understands firsthand how essential correct boot and blade selection, fit, and maintenance are to performance, safety, and long‑term progression. 

Since 1997, Adam has been dedicated to educating the skating community on how equipment functions and how it directly influences technique, stability, and confidence on the ice. He believes coaches are the heartbeat of the sport, and that empowering them with deeper knowledge of skate technology strengthens athlete development at every stage. 

Through collaboration and education, Adam’s goal is to ensure every skater is set up for success from the ground up. 

Reaghan Fortin

Reaghan is an ISU Judge and International Referee in Singles and Pairs, bringing more than 35 years of experience to the sport. She officiates at nearly every level of competition in Ontario each season - including STAR 1-4, the Provincial Series, and the Sectional Series - alongside her Canadian and International assignments. 

She has been a long‑time contributor to Officials Development with both Skate Canada and Skate Ontario. Reaghan currently serves as Chair of the Ontario Officials Development and Assignment Committee and is a member of Skate Canada’s OJET Committee. She has also supported Skate Ontario as a part‑time Program Advisor, contributing to skater and coach programming at the provincial level. 

A dedicated educator, Reaghan has developed curriculum for both Skate Canada and Skate Ontario and has delivered clinics, seminars, and workshops to officials across the country. She also enjoys working directly with skaters through monitoring, feedback, and on‑ice education at High Performance camps, provincial events, and club seminars. 

Jorie Janzen 

Jorie is a Registered Dietitian and performance nutrition specialist with more than 23 years of experience supporting athlete health, wellness, and performance. Since 2006, she has worked extensively with high‑performance athletes, including Canada’s top curling teams, and has supported programs within the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN), the Winnipeg Jets, the Manitoba Moose, and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. 

She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Manitoba and an International Olympic Committee Diploma in Sport Nutrition. Jorie is also a certified Life Coach, a WE‑I (relational intelligence) profile assessor, and a former Board‑Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. Since 2009, she has served as Lead Sports Dietitian at the Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba, collaborating with athletes and coaches as part of an integrated support team. 

In addition to her work at the Canadian Sport Centre, Jorie contributes to Sports Scientist Canada and operates a private practice focused on health and performance enhancement. A passionate advocate for holistic wellness, she emphasizes the connection between nutrition, fitness, and mental well‑being in helping athletes reach their full potential. 

Chris Cooper

Chris is a Sport Scientist at the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, specializing in strength and conditioning and physiology. He supports athletes across the high‑performance pathway—from development programs to international competition—by translating sport science into practical, effective training applications. 

Chris has extensive experience designing and implementing testing protocols, monitoring systems, and individualized training strategies that enhance performance while managing injury risk. His work integrates force plate assessment, physiological testing, and athlete monitoring data to guide decision‑making within interdisciplinary teams. 

He currently supports several Skate Ontario and alpine snowboard athletes, working closely with coaches, therapists, and athletes to align training with the demands of competition. Chris has also led the development of data‑driven reporting systems that strengthen how performance information is applied in daily training environments. 

Meaghan Churchill

Meaghan is a broadcaster and lifelong skater who has been part of the Skate Ontario Digital Broadcast Team since the 2023–24 season. A graduate of Western University’s Master of Media in Journalism and Communication program, she has provided live commentary for Sectional Series, Synchro Series, and Provincial Championship events over the past three years.

She brings a strong storytelling lens to her work, using her media background to help create a positive, welcoming broadcast environment that reflects the spirit of the Skate Ontario community. As a skater, Meaghan achieved gold status in all four Skate Canada disciplines and competed for more than two decades in STAR Freeskate/Artistic and Synchronized Skating, including winning a national title with Meraki Intermediate in 2018.

She remains active with the Trinity Synchronized Skating Academy of Toronto and will skate with their Adult 1 team for the 2026–27 season.

Charles Fitzsimmons

Charles is a sport psychology consultant with a PhD from Western University, supporting athletes and teams across multiple high‑performance environments. His current clients include Skate Ontario, the Ice Academy of Montreal – London Campus, Team Canada NextGen (Golf), and Team Ontario (Golf), where he focuses on enhancing coping, satisfaction, and performance through evidence‑based mental skills training.

He brings a calm, empathetic communication style to his work, helping athletes and coaches understand the psychological foundations of performance and apply practical strategies in training and competition. Outside of consulting, Charles is a world‑ranked amateur golfer with championship titles on three continents, including multiple Ontario and Canadian victories.

Kevin Dawe

Kevin is a National‑level coach within the Skate Ontario community, recognized for his technical expertise and athlete‑centred approach to development. He has guided skaters to success at the provincial, national, and international levels, including supporting Granite Club athletes Ava Kemp and Yohnatan Elizarov on their path to becoming 2026 World Junior Champions.

Kevin specializes in biomechanics, edge quality, and jump technique, with a focus on identifying root‑cause errors and implementing precise, evidence‑informed corrections. His athletes are known for their strong skating skills, technical consistency, and ability to perform under pressure.

He takes a long‑term, individualized approach to training and is committed to helping both athletes and coaches deepen their technical understanding through clear, practical strategies that translate directly to the ice.

Kayleigh Bates

Kayleigh is a Lead Coach and Director of Skating Programs with the Sioux Lookout Skating Club, where she supports skaters across all ages and stages of development. She brings a strong technical and program‑building background to her work, with a focus on creating inclusive, development‑focused training environments. Kayleigh is committed to ensuring every skater has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive within the sport.
